A diamond has the unique ability to bend light entering the stone at certain angles. This means that a well cut diamond returns nearly all of the light that enters the stone back through the top, or crown, of the diamond. This ability gives diamonds their beautiful sparkle and brilliance. If the stone is cut correctly, it will also emit light as the colours of the rainbow, or spectrum. This gives the diamond its fire and flashes of colour.
